Sujan Bista
📍Upper Hee Gaon
Sikkim is known for producing some of the finest large cardamom in the world. The cool climate, forest shade and rich soil create ideal conditions for this aromatic spice. Unlike the green colour of cardamom, Sikkimese Cardamom is known for its brown-black colour, bigger pod size, sweet taste and strong flavour.

In Hee Gaon, Sujan Bista cultivates cardamom on land that has supported this crop for generations. Cardamom plants grow slowly under the canopy of trees and require constant care throughout the year.
Once the pods mature, they are harvested by hand and dried carefully to preserve their aroma. The dried pods develop the deep smoky fragrance that Sikkim cardamom is known for.

Cardamom plays an important role in both sweet and savoury dishes. It is used in teas, desserts, spice blends and traditional Himalayan cooking.
When you open a pod, the aroma is strong and unmistakable; a reminder of the forests where it was grown.
